Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21 of 2016, entitled Pho, and she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012, after which she debuted her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music online in 2014 and released her own single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then, wanted to have her do some Rihanna references. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on October 21 on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening artist for J. Cole on his song Change in the year 2017 and appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared as a guest on two songs with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas' Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. In November, the singer released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November, 13 the singer released two new singles titled No One or Pdigree. She appeared with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby in the 16th of November, and released the song as a solo single for her first album. A music video came out on February 20, 2019 to accompany the track. Within one week, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 times. In December 2018 she took part in The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
